Growth and Change

Yesterday, I was cleaning out old computer files – something I seem to be doing more and more these days. I think it helps me have some bit of control over my life in these extremely chaotic times, but also feels a bit like a treasure hunt. I save really good things, but then hide them in files and folders all over my computer.

I found this image and it really resonated with me as I’m sure it does with so many others. Almost daily, I have conversations with coaching clients or friends who are at this exact intersection in their lives – scared and weary of change; uncertain about the next step in their journey; and feeling stuck in a workplace or relationship or other place where they KNOW they do not belong. They are asking themselves incredibly profound questions related to their values, their energy, and their contributions.

As overwhelming as this seems for employers and employees – and all of us – I think it has positive implications in the long-term. Organizational culture is about inclusion, belonging, playing to our skills, and commitment – and when we get it right, it’s an amazing thing and supports success for individuals and organizations. Every day, we hear the phrase “The Great Resignation.” I’m not sure that phrase says enough. Honestly, I think it’s more “The Great Awakening.”
