Over the last several months, I’ve been trying to clean up the pile of magazines and articles I promised myself I would read during the “quieter” times of the pandemic. Well, I’m not sure those quieter times are with us, but I have made a committed – and somewhat successful attempt at getting through this backload of information.

One of the articles that caught my eye was a Harvard Business Review from March 2020 that describes the evolution of job crafting over the last twenty years. Job crafting has been described as “changing your job to make it more engaging and meaningful” and has a particular resonance with lots of folks these days. In the current chaotic work environment, there is an incredible opportunity to combine over 20 years of research with adaptive HR and organizational practices that will allow employees to identify, design, and execute changes in their jobs for the benefit of themselves and their organization.
There are lots of good resources out there for both employees and employers to think about job crafting in the context of the total re-examination of work and our work environments. How might you look at job crafting as one of your talent strategies in 2022?
